Question 1

What is a Purple pillow?

Accepted Answer

A Purple pillow is a bed pillow made by Purple, the company known for its GelFlex Grid — a flexible gel material molded into a honeycomb pattern that buckles under pressure and springs back. Some Purple pillows are built entirely or partly from that Grid, and others use a fine down alternative fiber fill. All of them are designed to hold their shape rather than needing to be fluffed.

Question 2

What is the difference between Purple's Grid pillows and its down alternative pillows?

Accepted Answer

Purple's Grid pillows use the GelFlex Grid, either on its own or wrapped around a latex or foam core, which gives a springy, supportive feel with a lot of airflow. The down alternative pillows use a fine fiber fill inside a soft cover, which feels closer to a traditional plush pillow. Grid pillows generally hold a set height, while the fiber-filled versions can be shaped and compressed more freely.

Question 3

Is a Purple pillow good for side sleepers?

Accepted Answer

A Purple pillow can work well for side sleepers, particularly the models offered in more than one height, since side sleeping needs enough loft to keep the head level with the spine. Taller lofts fill the larger gap between the shoulder and the head, while lower lofts suit back and stomach sleeping. Some Purple pillows also include booster inserts, so the height can be adjusted after you get it home.

Question 4

Do Purple pillows sleep cool?

Accepted Answer

Purple pillows are designed to sleep cool, largely because the GelFlex Grid is an open honeycomb structure that lets air move through it continuously. The Grid models also use breathable mesh or cool-touch covers. The down alternative models rely on a breathable shell and fiber fill rather than the Grid, so they feel closer to a standard pillow in temperature.

Question 5

Which Purple pillow is best for me?

Accepted Answer

Choose a Purple pillow by how firm and how tall you want it to be. If you want firm, springy support and do not mind a feel that is distinctly different from a conventional pillow, a Grid-based model is the closer match; if you want something plush and familiar, a down alternative model will feel more like the pillow you are replacing. Side sleepers usually want a taller loft, and back and stomach sleepers usually want a lower one.

Question 6

How do you wash a Purple pillow?

Accepted Answer

Care depends on which Purple pillow you have, so check the tag before washing. The covers on the Grid pillows generally come off and can be machine washed on a cold, gentle cycle and laid flat to dry, while the Grid core itself is usually rinsed or spot cleaned rather than machine washed. The down alternative models are typically machine washable and can be tumble dried on low.
